Who I've Been Being

I've been in such an awful mood these last few weeks. I feel myself curdling from the inside with so much irritation and pettiness. I catch myself snapping at Ez for now real reason, being mean to him, being angry. I'm sad about this. It has something to do with how my entire life has changed, how I have a new loadful of responsibilities yet I see him playing computer games for hours on the couch. And he's  fine, relaxed, not overwhelmed, not scared. Apparently. And I am the opposite of all of those things.

I feel physically weak and sick a lot of the time. I can't handle too much of the day at a time, it needs to come in slow doses. My hair is falling out like you wouldn't believe, I don't know if I'm going bald. I'm tired of feeling so lemony and so bittery, I don't like who I've been being.

I wonder if when Cora nurses, my milk is sour as well.

Some Thoughts on Age of Cora

Enter Age of Cora.

Sleepy Rainy Milky Baby Days

I'm kinda bored. It's a strange feeling that seeps in my in between moments, when the house is clean, when the baby is asleep, when I've taken my shower, when I did my daily work quota, when I've taken a nap...Granted, these moments are rare, but some days, like today, the stars align and she takes several long naps during the day. And I find myself at a loss. I don't know what to do with myself and in a panic I walk in and out of her room several times, wondering if I should wake her up. Or have her sleep in my lap. But my arms and back are so tired that I hesitate and think twice before doing that.

So I'm trying to figure out what the hell my life is right now. Normally, when I get this way, I'd go out and do something. I don't know. I'd take another nap. I'd go see a movie. Now it seems so complicated. Seems, I said!? It IS. Staying home with her is so simple, but leaving the front door is like a secret service war operation. I only have two arms, and lugging a nursery with me, along with a 6 kilo baby AND my severe anemia is too much to handle. And the RAIN. Oh god, it never stops raining in this land of extreme weather. We either grow mold with the rainy season, stuck at home in socks, or wither away under the crackling dry weather.

So anyway. Now, I'm at a loss with my mommy life. I have work, yes, but it's chopped in bits and pieces and honestly not that challenging. Plus, it's lonely work. Doesn't really feel like work. There's reading, which I've been doing quite a lot of. Starting your day at 6AM has these kinds of collateral effects, like being awake and having more time awake.

My life is to follow her life, which is comprised of sleeping, waking, feeding, pooing, changing, feeding, sleeping, etc. etc...Small changes happen from week to week, but it's still essentially the same routine. I feel stuck in a neverending timeless loop of events. I don't feel time happening. It's all warped and centered around her milky needs.

What an incredibly scary and fascinating journey this is. What awaits us on the other side?

(...)

Ma in un attimo lo so                                   Mas em um segundo eu sei
Volerai via                                                  Você vai voar para longe
Verso l'isola lontana                                    Para uma ilha longínqua
di una città                                                  de uma cidade
Come ho fatto un giorno anch'io                 Como eu fiz também um dia
Amore mio                                                  Meu amor

Unfathomably Bewildering

There's so much to write about now with Cora in my life.

I wish I could write it with pen and paper in hand, but time is not something I have to spare.
I am captive to this love, 24/7. My milk is our compass for now.
Her skin is so soft, silky and brand new. I soak its smell up, intoxicated. I am exhausted, yet discovering new realms of energy and motivation. and FAITH, lots of it.
My day is full of should's, but she's the only need to.

Who is this little girl in my lap? Who is this baby, who will very soon not be a baby anymore? Her father's eyes? Her mother's nose? Who will she prove to be, little by little, smile by smile?

She is eager - eager to talk, eager to move, eager to be touch and be touched. She is grateful and generous, smiling and cooing when we get it right. She is learning to experiment things with her mouth, right now it's her little hand. Her plump little drool covered hand. What is your world like, little one? Do you feel safe, loved, happy? That's all I could hope for.

Having a child is so unfathomably bewildering.

Oh My

Oh my, you are here...have been here for almost a month.
Oh my, you have a name, a face, a hungry mouth and sparkly eyes!!

I haven't felt like myself since you've come, I have been living off 2-3 hour bursts of sleep, I have been living on another planet. It blows my mind that I have a DAUGHTER.

You are an arrow that we have helped launch into the world, ever since you were conceived, we have no control - you have come to flourish, to unfold into yourself, everyday a little more. There can be little attachment: the belly has gone, next to go are your newborn clothes. It's such a bittersweet feeling! I'm grateful things get easier as you get older, but it also pangs my heart that your little baby self will last so little! The thought helps me be more patient when the going gets tough.

Love you, little girl.

big and beautiful

Me pergunto quais serão os próximos passos médicos.

the physicality of an expanding balloon

Being pregnant has changed my views on being pregnant. It made me go from idolizing it, admiring it - to almost hating it completely. Oh please don't judge me.
I'm uncomfortable 98% of the time. There is no position to sleep in, sit in, walk in, it's becoming lunacy.
It changes everything. self-image, social image, habits - eating, sleeping, daytime, night time, sexual, etc...
It makes you go a bit crazy, messes with all sorts of emotions, really surfaces some deep and heavy things.
I haven't felt much pleasure at all with the physical state of being pregnant. In the beginning it was months of torture with the nausea and panic attacks and the feeling just plain awful, thinking I couldn't have any of my regular meds to help me.  Then I gained the weight all at once and that was a scary time for me as well, just for all the psychological trauma that brought forth and the radical diet changes I adopted, which were stressful for me. Then I got awkward, and I got those weird back pains, which have gone away, but a myriad of new things have taken its place. Heartburn was the latest of them and it has gotten better, or I've gotten better at putting it under my control. Now there's all this restlessness coursing through my body all the time, and I feel like i cannot expand any further, i don't want to, I feel stubborn and childish and angry...grr!!

but I do want to see her. I do have this curiosity about her person...but please, let's start a new phase, on the outside of my body now, ok?

Algo muda

enfim.

Algo está virando CASA.

expectativas e desabafo

My belly is moving in waves as I write. She is moving in waves, pushing against her tight quarters.
Does she know when I'm upset? What does it feel like in there for her when there is an upset?
It happened. We are here, living together. After all those talks about doing this, long before the pregnancy, after all the fears, sometimes disagreements and frustrations, we're HERE. In an apartment, fully furnished by us, fully equipped, everything chosen by us, everything thought carefully by us...and now it's done. We took the leap and I don't really know how I managed except to say that I really took it a day at a time, one decision at a time.
Now, I allow myself to cry and feel all the emotions that accompany this recent change in life cycle and such. Just cry out of the courage it took to get here, to take on this enormous responsibility right before another one is about to be born. To leave the little nest I managed to build for myself at my mom's place.
I still can't relax too well here. I don't know what's expected of me, to say the truth. I know we share the chores, that we're both expecting each other to help out and that there are no officially designated roles, other than who is most willing/available at the time something needs to be done. But in my head, that's not how it's playing out.
In my head, I don't grasp where I fit in the whole-he's-working-and-I'm-not-scheme. The whole I'm-a-stay-at-home-mom-for-now-at-least scheme. Money bothers me, I wish it weren't all on him. I wish it didn't make me feel like what I do or what I need is less important.  I mean, I have my little earnings here and there, but it bothers me that I can't go after a career per se right now if I intend to have any sanity left at the end of a pregnancy and the beginning of infant-caring.
At the same time, it bothers me that he can't do more on that front. Of course, the belly is mine, but irrationally it upsets me that he can't grasp how uncomfortable and scary it can get at times, and also how amazing and enthralling.
Just to show how confusing it all can be: I get upset at myself because I get angry at him for feeling too lazy to wash the dishes and I start reminding him he had promised to do it, and I promised myself I would let him do it and not do it myself, not give in to my antsy-ness...and I end up feeling guilty about feeling angry and "nagging" and end up washing them myself, but at that point it seems like I'm doing it to get at him, when I'm not, it's just that the sink full of stuff really bothers me.
And then I don't know how we're supposed to share the chores, if something bothers me more than it bothers him, how do we do it fairly?
And what do I do when he's tired from work and his blood pressure is off the charts but I really wanted him to read this chapter from a maternity book...I've been waiting for him to want to read it since month 3, I guess, but I don't want to nag and I know that his process is not the same as mine, i.e. he's not interested in the same things in the same way...but it's a chapter about how the father helps with the first few months of the newborn, how important that role is and what it's about really...and what I'm trying to tell him is I'm scared of these first few months when he'll still be off almost all day taking care of the world, it seems, being head of a department and dealing with pressures of his own and he might not have the mental, physical or emotional energy to be with me, to really BE with me. I don't know what I'm supposed to ask for, what is just a fact of life, what I should get mad about, what is not fair to get mad about, how much he should be thinking about these things as well, how much he's running away from thinking about these things and leaving me with them and how much I'm just being plain unfair or how it is unfair to me. But at the same time, I need help, because it's not gonna be a picnic for me either, trying to balance my welfare, the baby's schedule, the house chores, any translation offers that should come, his work schedule, our couple's schedule (whatever that means), the budget...and he's still busy having to live up to his parents expectations of doing things together and having a certain lifestyle, which is frustrating on another level that I can't quite put my finger on yet.
So this is our last few weeks of pregnancy and I am overwhelmed with how to start a married life AND a family life all at once. I feel scared that we're not having the time to have the couple part first, the just us as independent young adults phase...
I feel like I should be queen right now, being pampered in every way, being thought of in the littlest things, like if my feet hurt or if I'd like some ice with my water, you know? Or if I feel lonely, or bored... Or if my head hurts, or if the baby is moving, or AAAAH! I want to feel like he and his family understand if I don't feel so social or if I break some sort of social protocol because I need to respect what my body is asking of me. Without the added pressure of them thinking I'm disrespectful or uninterested or whatever. I wish I could be recognized for still cleaning the house top to bottom with my 8.5 month belly.
I wish I didn't feel so childish for wanting all this and breaking into tears because I'm not feeling it.
I wish he could understand that I am irrational pretty much at this point, well, since the beginning, it's been all about emotion, I wish he'd stop expecting me to appeal to my rationality when I get upset.
And if truly this is impossible for him, if it is asking for too much, then I would rather be left alone right now and do it by myself than to go through all this ordeal in my head of doubt, guilt, anger, sadness, doubt...without knowing how to address any of it, because it feels like too much to express, too much to ask for.

Pregnancy Brain Dream

Deus me dê uma forcinha?

Eu nem acho ela tão grande assim, ela me parece bem proporcional a meu corpo.

Enter 3rd trimester

1st trimester was a tornado. Granted, I only know about it for 2 months, but they were the worst 2 months ever.
2nd trimester was a chance to breathe again and watching my body expand, expand. Coming to terms and lots of traveling.
3rd trimester has just been ushered in. There is a great silence here. We are setting up our house, we are setting up our concrete future. Me, dad and baby. I don't know what that means, yet, moving in with my boyfriend. Moving out of parent's house. I can't think. Add a baby into all that. Anxious and overwhelmed. Who said I could do this? God, you think I can do this? Baby? You trust me? Will you help me learn about you? Will you be patient with me?  I promise I'll try to be with you too...do you think we can work together through this? Your mom is almost a baby herself.
You're getting more and more snug, compressed, pressured. We are both pressured.
My back is arching and aching more, my belly is taking over my body and my mind is slow, slow, slow, coming to a stop.

TIREEEDDD

Of being pregnant.

I am grumpy a lot of the time, overly sensitive and just need to be left alone, lest I explode in tear or in rage or in self-pity.

I feel such irritation with the world, with all the shit in it and all the people who do stupid things. I've never been this way, so judgmental and impatient. I don't understand why people do things to make other people's lives harder or sadder or full of grief. That includes politicians and all sorts of decision makers to just other people on the street who do things such as litter or people in cars who drive recklessly and don't really care about the feelings of the person next to them. URRRRURURURURUGHHGHGHGHGHGH.

I have to remember that mantra that "I'm doing the best I can" and live with that.
I'm tired of watching everything I eat, of planning ahead at least 2 meals all the time, tired tire tired of caring how much oil or grease or whatever. Tired of feeling like my weight is a little monster that can lose its temper if I eat just one piece of chocolate.
I don't understand why I need to do more bloodwork to check for anything diabetes related if I don't have any telltale signs of it, or any symptoms. I don't understand why I have to get another ultrasound done, if everything is ok. Why must we always assume that something will go wrong?

All her things have been bought/gifted and are sitting quietly in the guest room until we can set it all up in the new place. I hope that helps some, the setting up, decorating, etc.

I want my old weight back, my old sense of balance, my old hips, my butt, my thighs back. My circulation.
My BRAIN, my energy. Ooooohhh I'm feeling so selfish and childish right now. Doing the best I can.

Ambiguidades Ctd.

A ioga me faz incrivelmente bem. As posições me emprestam calma e ritmo.

Se me entrego à nova realidade, à nova configuração.
E tudo bem, agora posso dizer, tudo bem.

Things I Could Learn from Pipa

I am happier there, and unhappier in the big city, and I never stop to ask myself why (of course, other than  the beautiful paradise-like setting, that is).
So here I am, trying to do just that.

1. No cable TV, no tv show I must follow...just local and familiar Brazilian everyday TV, like during my childhood
2. No internet connection (at least an easy one), so no checking email or Facebook or whatever every 10 minutes, just every 24 to 48 to 72 hours.
3. I read a lot of books and get carried away in their stories, like when I was younger
4. More family time, just hanging around at home, eating, talking, laughing, watching a movie, in the pool, in the hammock, wherever and whatever.
5. I eat and drink more fruit. Lots of fruit fruit fruit and water.
6. I wear little clothes and give in to the heat when it gets the best of me. I swim, I take a shower with the hose, I water the plants, I lie in the shade or in the ocean breeze.
7. We watch the sunset and the lights of the world go down
8. We eat yummy things
9. I sleep at least 10 hours a day
10. I forget about what the outside world might be thinking of me

I wonder...if I copy some of these situations, would it help? Lets try...

2 anos

Stepping Stones

This is my moment of the day. After 10pm, tv and house basically to myself and the cozy feeling of another day lived and it the relief or pride that can bring.
Things are getting better. I'm always scared to say that "out loud" because I feel I'm going to jinx the whole thing.

But it does seem to be getting better. Falling into place, you might say.

With this resurrection of translation work I remind myself of the joy and sense of satisfaction this kind of works brings me and make me see a clearer path ahead. If I know where I want to be it's easier to find the stepping stones among the overgrown grass. The overgrown grass doesn't matter, it's even sorta picturesque and quaint.

So we are having a baby Yes, I realize. That feeling of reduction - like my universe is going to limit itself very very fast to a very very minuscule area still exists, but now it's not the only thing I feel. I feel like it's going to expand in different directions, in different ways. I've never had a child before, that has to bring something new to your life, right? The reduction/expansion will happen in a natural way, just like when you're unemployed and suddenly get a job...you don't realize that you're not spending all day in front of the tv when you're satisfied and happy at your new situation. Some analogy like that, it's not perfect yet. Or like, if you think about leaving Brazil, yes, you can cry over the lack of pão de queijo you will suffer, but once you're in that different country you realize, wow, this gelato di nutella is the new best thing in my life!!
In other words, things get replaced and new favorite things surge. Everything makes sense in a context, so what makes sense now, in this context, will quite likely change in a new context.

Letting go continued

I'm not sick anymore, but ever since I don't feel energetic, I feel exhausted for so many things. Like a wall has been erected around me and filters what I can and can't deal with. Zero tolerance. If something gets to be too much, I need to sleep, I need to go away.
Guilt has improved a lot.
Being this tired give no leeway for guilt.
Everything in the universe seems to scream - TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, period. That's it. Let go.

Grief

Since as long as I can remember, I thought of pregnancy as the most incredible thing that could happen to someone. I admired pregnant bellies when they walked by, I dreamt (literally) with several pregnant scenarios...and I always thought that when it happened to me, it would be the happiest and most magical thing in the world.

I NEVER, EVER, would have thought that it could be this difficult.

I never imagined it would change my body in a way that I hardly recognize myself, and I never could have guessed how scary this feeling can get. I never could have known, although I "knew", how body and mind are inseparable and amazingly in sync. I never imagined how much of my identity is based on my self-image and understanding of my body.
I don't know why it makes me cry so much, why I feel so helpless and small most of the time. But it does.
Sometimes I "forget" I'm pregnant and then I remember and I cry all over again. And sometimes I remember December, the month "it" happened and cry when I think I could have avoided this, or if only I could go back in time...It kills me to think like this and it makes me feel guilty as hell.

Another thing that upsets is exactly this lack of enthusiasm for the whole thing. I feel I'm missing out on being able to live a wonderful moment and that I'm making my baby sad as well. I'm starting, STARTING to accept that fine, maybe pregnancy won't in the top 10 moments of my life. I can't force it. It's like part of me is dying and I pray to god that something will take it's place, something better and stronger. I think this is what people have been telling me about when they talk about letting go, and letting it happen.
Delivering oneself.

Being sick today helped me let go and give in to something. Being sick in your soma, being physically too weak or in pain has power to transform your mind. Today I was not anxious, today I could barely care about so many things that had been tormenting me. I had to find a place of isolation and protection, and not caring was the way to do that. I let myself be taken care of, no guilt. I just had to...and I was grateful.

Wounded Animal

Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the wall for a new sun
A new day has come

Hush, love, i see a light in the dark
it's almost blinding me...

When was the last time I did something for me? Was it 2006, that famous aprile? Could that possibly the last and perchance only time in the last 10 or more years that I've done something truly authentic?
I weep today for all these years, for the me that I've been struggling to have change, to adjust, to do things the way everyone does, or how people expect me to. These "people" don't even really exist.

I howl in profound anger at what I have done and what people have helped me to do. I am a wild beast of raw rage, a wounded animal confronted with her survival instinct. I'm sorry, but now is no time to be nice.

Silence Please

Quero estar leeejos da minha casa most of the time.
Isso me deixa preocupada e triste as vezes. Estou cansada de me sentir triste!!

Half the Time, Half the World

Don't wanna talk about my pregnancy with random people at all, not even semi-random people. Not even with myself all that much. There's not much to talk about, really, it's happening, it's progressing, time is passing. I still get the blues half the time, I still get panicky and anxious and restless. I still wonder about the future A LOT, I still feel guilty...but now it's about half the time. Half the time is ok, It's much better than ALL THE TIME.
I can get it in my head more times than not that I am not a bad person for having quit work, that I am not a bad person for not knowing what my next steps will be after the baby is born. I am not a bad person for not being financially independent. Ok. If I can reduce the panic, half the world gets put back in its place and starts to make sense again.
The issue isn't the job, the money, the whatever...it's my guilt, it's my anxiety, my feeling like I'm in a totally new and unknown place in my life, at the brink of falling off from everything familiar and safe. It's ok to be scared, this is something that IS scary, this is something that requires major inner and outer adjustments. It's ok to be where I am.

We saw you today!! You moved and waved and had a beautiful little profile to show us. Perfect hands, perfect nose...You are already cute!!

Month 4

The 4th month has fallen upon me full of grace and energy.
It makes me want to cry out of sheer disbelief - seriously God, it's over? You're releasing me from that nightmare that was the beginning of this year?

I can walk again, I can run, I can go to stores, I can eat whatever without feeling octopus tentacles squeeze my insides and release their octopus poison...I can feel HOPE, I can feel JOY, I can just BE...My brain has slowly un-warped itself, it no longer feels tortured. Oh little soul, we have made it through yet another bad patch. We have made it!

Yesterday, as I went to the knitting supply store to buy my new knitting supplies, I was absolutely sure that I had made it on shore after so much swimming. I would have never considered leaving my house to go buy something that would make me try something NEW (like a new knitting pattern), let alone feel JOY about it. Little things like that are the best indicators of my mental health.

I don't always feel pregnant, especially since there isn't that permanent sickness around to remind me. I don't feel pregnant, my tummy is not protruding yet though there is definitely something there, if you know what I mean. I can feel it tight against my womb. Still, it's not enough to constantly remind me. Someimes I have to make a conscious effort to feel  pregnant. My daily activities take my mind off of it and I must confess it is a relief. It's nice to feel there is more to life than just my uterus and hormones.
Then in a few seconds I remember and it's very odd. I have to go through a whole battery of questions, questions about the meaning of all this and what am I doing and how will it be, and that atavic "wait a second, wait one darn second - I'm...PREGNANT??"
However, the shock has worn off, so these questions are more residual than anything. It's the last phase of the acceptance process, I believe. Of digesting as well.
Sometimes I wish I could open up my skin and tissues just to SEE this little being and be sure it's still there. Maybe I made it all up? Maybe it's gone? Then I remember there are ultrasounds that would do the job for me without all the mess, so I'll wait for that. This Tuesday, in 4 days!! I am certain I will be shocked with how big this baby is already and the definite shapes that make up his/her body. I can't wrap my mind around that - especially since it's all somewhere in me, somewhere in my cavities, RIGHT NOW. How on Earth does this happen? Nature is truly amazing.

Waxes and Wanes

This pregnancy thing really lasts a while, doesn't it?
And there are a million moments within this larger moment or waiting for this life to grow and grow.
I know things are better than last month, for about a week now and I am extremely grateful for that.
My confidence grows sometimes, expanding and comforting me. Then some nights I have the most awful and gruesome nightmares, like this night, and I wake up wobbly and weepy.
I dreamt my dad had killed himself in our Clayton house. It was horrible. We went there to clean up the house and to empty it in order o sell it. This is my 3rd dream about this house and about sorting through things in order to clean it out. I'm sure that's significant on many levels. The house I grew up in, as a baby and later on, being revisited and reorganized in my head. My parents, being revisited and "reorganized". I was so angry at my dad in the dream, so shocked at the brutal act and completely stunned that he ever felt that way and we had no idea.
Then today I wake up and I want to cry and curl up and be taken care of but there's so much guilt somewhere, there's the voices telling me to get up and exercise, then there's my heart the pounds so hard that I can't go anywhere near changing out of my pajamas.
Then there are moments where I feel like mother Earth herself, serene and powerful, feeling the universe's power pulsing through me.

I feel captive in my own head and web of anxieties right now. All I can do is wait for it to dissolve...

I don't understand what's happening to me. I know I'm pregnant. I know it's the famous first trimester, but I swear, I don't understand what's going on.

I am exasperated with the lack of good sleep, with the abundance of anxiety, tension and feeling miserable. My body feels like another planet, so far away from me, so taken over by this alien entity that insists on insisting. Crying is the best I can do to handle it all at some points. If I don't cry Lord knows how it would be.

I don't understand what is happening and I don't know if I should keep trying or just give up on that already. I am in another time and space dimension, I don't recognize the world around me as the place I used to live in. Nothing is familiar or comforting. I feel threatened by the most simple things, like lamp posts and clocks. Night scares me because that means soon I will be confronted with my sleeping torture. Day scares me because that means I will be confronted with my daytime torture. I feel tortured almost 24/7. Almost. There are some moments of reprieve, believe it or not. Those are like little gems, or stars -  "put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day...."
I don't mean to be wallowing or feeling sorry for myself. I write to help myself, not to make it worse.
Pain makes me reconnect with my sense of spirituality. I have been praying so much these days, trying to talk to god, trying to get help, LIGHT.

One out of Many Pregnancy Dreams

Pregnancy is notorious for it`s crazy and vivid dreams, and I have not escaped the norm. Every night I can remember a serie of these eerie dreams and usually they make me wake up in a sweat, heart pounding fast...
Tonight`s dream, while apparently scary, wasn't so much..I woke up feeling good about it. The image below represents the image in the dream very accurately (without antennae, however).

We were living in the vet hospital where I grew up and suddenly I felt this bulge coming through my stomach, something trying to make it's way through. It became clearer and clearer as it neared the surface, that it was the fetus, moving around and popping up, wrapped in some sort of sac. He was right there, on the surface, and when I breathed in, the sac filled like a ballon and so did the fetus, and he would increase in size, becoming very visible against the translucid sac layer and my skin. I could see every detail of his body, his tiny eyes, hands, spine...I showed Ez and he was fascinated. I could see the bumps of his spinal cord against my skin, and at one point little antennae broke through my skin and it was really strange and sorta gross. I tried to push them back in, and realized that if I breathed in deeply, I could possibly make the sac pop. I was scared, and held on to my tummy where the baby while I walked to the clinic, to ask the nurses for help. I wanted them to wrap something around my stomach so he would stop popping out like that. I pushed him back in a bit but my skin was loose where he had popped out, like an old balloon. The nurses all huddled over me, trying to help, a bit panicked, and then I felt the baby coming up through my throat, like I was throwing it up. It reached the top of my throat and they could see it through my mouth. I wanted to swallow it back down but they warned me about being too forceful because the sac could burst.
It was a terrifying experience but fascinating as well!!! I still remember the details of his/her body, it was incredible to see it that close to me!

Maybe Prayer

Maybe i`ll get it in my head that I have chosen this present situation. I chose to stop working, I chose to give myself time to digest and deal with all the changes.
Maybe I`ll understand that I do not control so much that is happening right now, for even when I want to do something, sometimes the fatigue or the sickness is too strong.
Maybe I`ll put it in my brain that I am doing this for a bigger reason, that there is a child in the way and that is not "being lazy"or "worthless"when I have to lie down on the couch most hours of the day.
Maybe I`ll finally chill and realize that there is much more to life, so many other ways to give to the world than the classic capitalist working girl way.
Maybe my brain synapses will calm down and be soothed by these thoughts. God, I need you more than ever right now. Amen

Wind to the Smoke

Wow, almost a month has gone by since we've found out about you...
A month has gone by, I have quit my job and have dealt with intense anxiety, fear, nausea and general insecurity. I want you to understand how this is not about you, that I love you very much. I want you to understand that I am trying to sort a lot of things out in order to be a better person, a happier person and therefore a happier mom to you. I am dealing with things without the buffering of anxiety meds or even work. My past demons, my present demons, my inner child and her grief, for starters. I am working through my arrogance and my terrible self-esteem. I am working on my life purpose, on what I am here to do and trying to tap into my inner truth, filtering it amidst so many different misleading voices.
I want you to know that I am trying very hard to be a good enough mother for you. I am sorry if the grief reaches you, or the anxiety. I hope you can understand at some level what it’s about and be able to digest it somehow. If not, I pray that God reach down his hand and blow it away like the wind blows away smoke or dandelions. Or that he stroke your newly formed hair for me...
Amen.
